Do you guys keep track of your results? What is the best way to keep track? What is an average win for you?
I have always just kept my poker money seperate from living/personal money and I kept track of it just by how much I had. I have read more and more about how keeping records and results can help you spot weaknesses in your game and also allow you to manage your money better.

I keep track of my results from time to time. Since I've starting going to the casino, I've kept an Excel spreadsheet of my records. You're right Joe, keeping records definately helps you spot weaknesses in your game. I will look through my results page and glance at a loss and I'll remember what is was that caused me to lose (how I was playing, bad beats, etc.) and it allows you to adjust your game accordingly. Most of all though, keeping track of results allows you to be realistic with yourself. Most bad players will not keep track of their play and will only tend to remember winning sessions, while mentally writing off losing sessions as "bad luck" or some other uncontrollable factor.
Something that has been scaring me a bit lately is that my average losses are larger than my wins. I have much more winning sessions than losing sessions, but when I lose, I tend to go off, usually becuase I saw that the table was weak and I thought I could run over it easily. I feel that a very good poker player will win 65/35 with the average win either the same or slightly higher than the average loss. On a side note, I think it's much easier for people to lose a large amount than to win a large amount. Sometimes people will dig themselves so deep a hole that they have crossed the threshold of pain, meaning that losing another $500 doesn't feel as bad as it did before, and soon this deadly cycle will absorb a large chunk or all of their bankroll. It's important to watch out for this and one should make sure to call it quits when you quietly feel yourself falling into this abyss.
I also keep a track of my sessions...I simply put all my poker money in my savings account and eveything thing else in my checking account.
